Ingredients:

For the Churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • Cooking spray

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Chocolate Dipping Sauce:

  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium-high heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and add the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  3. Once the dough has cooled slightly, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Continue mixing until the dough becomes smooth and shiny.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  6. Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe the dough into 4-inch long strips directly into the air fryer basket, cutting the dough with scissors or a knife.
  7. Cook the churros in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, turning them once halfway through.
  8. While the churros are cooking, prepare the cinnamon sugar coating by combining sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Set aside.
  9. Once the churros are done, remove them from the air fryer and immediately roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  10. For the chocolate dipping sauce, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the sauce is smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  11. Serve the freshly cooked churros with the warm chocolate dipping sauce on the side. Dip, savor, and enjoy!
